4 Smart Ways In which Companies are Turning their Business Eco-Friendly!
As India and Norway join hands to discover the effective strategies to remove the plastic waste from the environment, there are several firms that are said to be following the route. Many globally famous firms claim to either have started or plan to use many sustainable alternatives like eco-friendly disposable cutlery, biodegradable lids, recycled plastics and many other ways to tackle the growing plastic use.
According to a report by New Delhi based Energy & Resource Institute, around 43% of the plastic that is manufactured is used for packaging and most of it is single-use. Every year, tons of plastic waste gets dumped in our oceans that are destroying our oceans and aquatic life.
Here are 4 smart ways in which companies all across the world are tackling their usage of single-use plastics:
Biodegradable Disposable Tableware
It is no more a secret that the largest contributor in generating plastic waste is our usage of single-use plastic cutlery. From airlines, restaurants, cafes to food carts, plastic cutlery are used everywhere. Hence, there are many companies like Westlife Development (operates 300 McDonald`s corp store in the south and west India), Vistara, Alliance Air that has recently replaced all their single-use consumer-facing plastic with eco-friendly disposable cutlery and other biodegradable alternatives.
Collecting, Segregating & Recycling
Thirty-two companies, including Reliance Industries, Pepsi, Coca Cola Inc, and Diageo partnered to launch a packaging waste management with an initial investment of Rs 1,000 crore for the project. Not only that, Parle Agro has joined hands with the Indian Pollution Control Association and NEPRA Environmental Solutions Pvt Ltd to collect and recycle its PET bottle waste, completely.
Innovative Approach With Biodegradable Food Packaging
Determined to combat plastic pollution, Unilever plans to discard the take-make-dispose model. With lots of innovative solutions like biodegradable food packaging, the company aims to make its packaging material 100 percent reusable, recyclable and compostable by 2025.
Paper Bowls & Straws
For the past couple of years, the concept of using biodegradable paper bowls and paper straws has increasingly become popular due to their natural composition and the ability to degrade naturally. And if the reports are to be believed, paper straws have replaced plastic straws in Nestle products.
The time has come when all of us should switch to sustainable alternatives to various plastic products. Why not start with eco-friendly disposable cutlery? Visit www.ecoware.in to check out the huge exciting range of biodegradable disposable tableware.
